The Frides Way

At St Frideswide we want our pupils to be able to operate in the 21st century workplace and understand that the careers which will be open to them using computing and computer technology may not exist yet.  We aim to give our pupils the life skills that will enable them to embrace and utilise new technologies ensuring that we have a mixed economy of devices that mirror all options that may be found in the home.  We want children to be confident and autonomous users of these technologies; ensuring that they are not only computer literate but also resilient critical thinkers.

Technology is used to support learning across the entire curriculum and we want our pupils to develop their understanding of themselves within their community as responsible digital citizens.  Through our computing block lessons and our interleaved opportunities we aim that all children have:

  • Competence in coding for a variety of practical and inventive purposes, including the application of ideas within other subjects.
  • The ability to connect with others safely and respectfully, understanding the need to act within the law and with moral and ethical integrity.
  • An understanding of the connected nature of devices.
  • The ability to communicate ideas well by using applications and devices throughout the curriculum.
  • The ability to collect, organise and manipulate data effectively.
